We first heard this term from Erin's dad, Brian Kelly. (He's familiar with Russia because of his work in getting the Liahona magazine into the country.) The taiga is the forest that circles the globe at the latitude of Russia. The trees are very tall and thin and densely packed--mostly white birch and pine. (Whenever we're in pine trees I want to know what Mark S. thinks.)
This city has been carved out of that great forest. Today we went out into it for the first time.
